The Apprentice

Hello again, Mr. Killed me and reading my life. I thought I'd share the events of today because they seemed rather important. My first apprentice, a Mr. Jonas Furen, won his first battle today. He has been studying with me for a little while now, and I've been teaching him the ways of the Gentleman Mercenary. He is a quick learner, and he seems to wonderfully grasp the honour system I am trying to implement among our kind. He was hired by a merchant to protect him from highway thieves, and they were attacked. A rather large force, might I add. Apparently the abundance of war has lead to an abundance of desparate men.

In any case, I sat and watched while Jonas hacked up the would-be thieves, and by the end of it the leader fell to his knees and begged for mercy. Jonas seemed a little confused in this, still full of the battle rage, but I stayed his hand and offered a position to the leader as my apprentice. I figured that if I could tame a ruffian thief, then I could tame anybody. He is with me now, and I have sworn that if anything goes missing, whether he was involved or not he will die a traitors death, a messy one.

In any case, Jonas being the victor today, and probably the best student that I will ever have, was released from his apprenticeship and went on his way late tonight. Staring into the firelight now I wonder what will become of him...
